First, I have to say that I was delighted to learn that this story takes place in Southwestern Pennsylvania, where I am from. And it's a small town romance--my favorite type of story. Gloria, who really has done nothing wrong, and has contributed to the community, is the victim of ugly gossip. But she has good friends who believe in her and stand by her, including deputy sheriff Ned. She has worked hard to prepare costumes for the Christmas pageant and avoid anything that could be considered flirting, to keep the gossipers at bay. It's Christmas eve before she realizes it. Feeling lonely and lost, all she wants to do is go home and go to bed. But here comes her Christmas surprise. Loved the story.

Such an interesting book. Thoroughly enjoyed following the characters on their journey to happiness. Also gives something to think about. Always have a positive attitude.
I loved the main characters, with all their flaws. What would a Christmas story be without a pageant, snow, and a love story. Add a little drama and you have an interesting, sweet story.
This is a thoroughly insightful tale about love in a Christmas setting. The author develops the characters gracefully as the story blossoms into a modern-day Cinderella tale.
This is a very enjoyable read with great relatable chatacters. Well written and the story itself just puts you in the Holiday mood. Highly recommend this book for your Holiday reading....A MUST READ 😀😀👍👍
A great addition to the Hometown Series. A wonderful cast of characters. The joy of the Christmas season. What more could you ask for? Surprises? Yeah, this book has those too. A fabulous story from start to finish.
Christmas in Smithville, I concluded as I finished its pages, a warm and cozy romance story. The story however, more or less, dancing around the topic of insecurity. Both Ned and Gloria had their own insecurities; Ned with his stuttering and Gloria, with her confidence level. However, I was more connected to Gloria’s character than Ned. Ned had worked out his own insecurity in his own ways and was adorable even with his stuttering. Throughout the story, I watched how Gloria coped with her insecurity. How she learns to love herself before loving others.

The story also centered around the friendship of the people around and with both Ned and Gloria. But the only thing I do not understand was why certain woman was hostile towards Gloria. It wasn't explain briefly in the story but a mere paragraph of 2 to 4 sentences which was hardly adequate considering their behavior towards Gloria. Although I did enjoy the story, I am unable to engaged more with the story due to the slow pace though it enable me to follow through Gloria's growth of confidence.
Ned being the sheriff sees and hears what goes on. Gloria is different now, she use to flirt with all the guys, and that is what people remember. For him he sees all the kindness she does. He prefers the quiet and being away from people, not knowing what to say. Could the two of them have much in common for love to come.
