Temptation had me in a spin. A great start introduced Alexis, a 30 something-year-old happily married woman who is about to embark on returning to the workforce. The depiction of her daily life and attempting to balance all a mother attempts to juggle hit the nail on the head. Her return to work and her getting to know Bryce came off as far-fetched to me and my transition from reality to fantasy wasn’t an easy stretch. Then, KaBOOM! I have no idea at what point I dropped my eyeball rolling and became obsessed with Bryce and Alexis, but when it did I was her biggest cheerleader!

The chemistry between Alexis and Bryce is smoking hot and that’s without acting on their attraction. Well kind of, but not totally if you get my drift. Imagine your wildest fantasy fling and ramp it up a notch or two! Throw in the impossible scenario of guilt surrounding her lovely home life and you can understand why I began to question my enthusiasm for enjoying Alexis’ adventure.

For a book I enjoyed, I am still a bit miffed at the roller coaster ride it took me on. There were sections of the book I loved, but at times left me wishing I had never started and then there were the times I wanted to close my eyes LOL. Now, this ride won’t be for all. If you’re finicky about where the line of fidelity is drawn in fiction I hazard to guess this book will not be for you.

As an Australian reader, I find myself tempted by books from overseas authors. It feeds my traveling obsession without ever having to leave my armchair (or pay for expensive plane tickets). So it was strange when I found myself adoring the British spelling and references, giving it a homelike and familiar feel to it. It made me stop and wonder if that’s why I had no problem easing into the story in the beginning.

I’ve met KM Golland at book-signings and each time I come away intending to buy one of her books. Well now I have and I am happy to say I have succumbed to Temptation and about to head straight into Satisfaction.

Overall, I would say this book is worth reading, but I did have to take off a star for the following reasons

-Undeveloped characters. In my opinion, every single character in this book is undeveloped. You have a married woman with kids, who by all accounts for most of the book shows no dissatisfaction with her marriage yet she almost immediately begins an inappropriate relationship with her boss. As a reader, you are given NO reason for her attraction to him beyond looks and his money. You have the billionaire boss who is desired by all of these women, but he selects this one married woman and you don't know why. You don't have much info on her looks, there isn't much by way of discussion between them to indicate some deeper connection beyond just the physical. It is all a little bizarre.

-Although the main character is supposed to be in her thirties, I find that her thoughts are often portrayed in a very juvenile fashion. There is NO depth to her thinking. There is nothing in the book that really denotes the struggle of going from happily married wife with kids to all her acts of infidelity. For these reasons, I don't find her very relatable. She comes across as EXTREMELY shallow.

I really liked the overall storyline and there are definitely things I want to know more about, which I assume will be explored in the next two books but the execution of the story just isn't what I was expecting for something tailored to adult woman (read not high school, college aged or early 20s).

If I could, I would really give the book 3.5 our of 5 stars.
I can see why people are searching for a Mr Clark. this story was different than any other boy I read about romance and a sexy available billionaire man.
it started off as a mom starting back to work after so many years at being home with her two kids. she is happily married but her new boss is trying to change that. he feel in love with her by just looking at her photo to her resume. after so many tactics of trying to win her over , will his last one destroy there relationship?
