Sometimes it is very difficult to try something new. Many of us have a voice in our heads that tells us we will never do it, we just cannot live up to our capabilities. What do you do when this happens to you?Kenni lives with his mom, a life coach, his dad a computer expert and his little sister, Lisa. He is six years old and beginning to learn how to swim. It is taking him longer to learn to swim, and he has a voice in his head he calls his No Results Witch, that tells him he will not succeed and cannot do anything right. He talks with his mother about this, and she comes up with a plan. When you read this book, you will understand how Kenni faces his adventures. Parents/teachers will enjoy reading this book because it discusses everyday issues. Children will be able to discuss their fears, and how they try to overcome them. The illustrations are bright, colorful, and vibrant. They depict Kenni's adventures, and you can tell from the expressions on his face what he is trying to decide.
The author, Talia Hieman, has searched for her perfect job, and might have had the no results witch in her life until she found what she wanted to do in life. She is a life coach, mother and writer of children's books. 'Kenni and the No Results Witch', is a wonderful book with lessons to be learned, and that is the perfect kind of book. My granddaughter enjoyed this book because she is learning to swim, and she could identify with Kenni's fears. Note: this product was provided for review.

The book brings a very important lesson about not listening to the voices that tells you to stop trying too soon, when you can't see results yet
Great book !!!
This book gives both the children and parents tools to handle fears from new experiences.
It will drive your child to believe in his ability to succeed.
Really enjoyed it.
I really liked your book. It is a great book for children and you are a awesome writer. Thank you.
This is an engaging story about a young child who struggles with self-doubt and fear. In learning Kenni's story, we see that he is able to overcome his inner "witch" through persistence, patience and hard work. A beautiful story for any child who struggles with anxiety or low self-esteem.
Delicious book! Well put together, great and educational story for children, great illustrations, and I loved the fact the witch is not a "cracked big nose woman". You can see it was written and illustrated with a plan and thinking. I'm a big fan of life coaching, and I love the idea to adjust coaching to children in such a delicate, sensitive, and easy to employ ways. I'm sure we will hear a lot about this writer, trust me, I read so many children's books… highly recommended for both children and for collectors of illustrated children's books.
It isn't too late--change the name to "Kenny." When I typed in the title name, I used "Kenny" (as most people would do." And the result was "no results." There is no reason to use the "i" instead of the more common "y."
Although the lesson is important, the story is rather static, very little action, and the characters don't come alive. As far the "seed" is concerned, that came across to me as rather boring. There should be more imaginative action toward the solution of Kenny's problem. Couple that with bland and no-action illustrations and you have very little appeal to the imagination. The typography is also too ordinary. Sometimes the sentences are too long, and there are grammatical problems attribution ("he said"}, punctuation/
I appreciate the author's long-term plans in writing meaningful books for children. At this point in her career, it would help her greatly to get input from an editor, a writing group, and parents who would offer unbiased suggestions. Of course, these are my views as a parent and grandparent, a storyteller, a former grade-school teacher, and a writer for children for many decades.
Kenni is a six year boy who has just begun swimming lessons. He also has a witch who shows up at times when Kenni doesn't really want her around. Kenni is making little progress with his lessons and is about to quit. The witch shows up and encourages him to give up because he is making no progress. His swimming instructor gives his mom a magic seed that when watered is supposed to grow. The witch smirks as the seed appears not to grow. Will Kenni have the patience to wait and see if the seed grows? Does he have the tenacity to stick to his swimming lessons?
While the intention of the author to coach and inspire children to master new skills is an admirable one, there are some reasons why this book does not hit the mark. There are a few editing issues and the flow of text is a bit unnatural for a six year old child. The size of the font varies from page to page as do the size of the illustrations. The book is targeted for children ages four through eight. There is a lot of text on some of the pages for children at the lower end of that range. This author plans a series; I do believe a lot of these problems will be resolved as the series is further developed. Developing persistence and a sense of purpose is a skill worthwhile inculcating in our children.
